Assistance League of Kansas City
Assistance League of Kansas City is an all volunteer organization comprised of over 300 members who provide more than 24,000 volunteer hours of service. Harvest Ball Society funds will assist the Operation School Bell program which provides new clothing, winter hats & gloves, health kits, and shoe vouchers for school-age children referred by school counselors from the Liberty, North Kansas City, Park Hill, Plate County R-3, Smithville and Kearney school districts. In 2009, the program assisted 1,716 children shop for new clothing. (View)

Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Greater KC
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City served 169 at-risk youth in Clay and Platte Counties in 2009 by matching them with a caring adult volunteer. Harvest Ball Society funding will assist with the expenses associated with successful matching of a caring adult volunteer with a youth participant, including costs associated with screening, interviewing, and support mentoring. Children’s Mercy Hospital & Clinic - Children’s Mercy Northland
Children’s Mercy Hospital & Clinics opened a Northland location in 2004 to provide pediatric medical care and treatment focused on the unique needs of children under the age of 18. The hospital is committed to providing excellence in service and care to all regardless of ability to pay. In 2009 the Northland location documented 13,947 specialty clinic visits and 19,049 urgent care visits. Harvest Ball Society funding will help defer the costs associated with providing charity care to Northland residents. (View)

Clay County Clothes Closet
Clay County Clothes Closet provides new and used clothing for distribution to families in Clay County. The all volunteer organization served over 2,118 individuals in 2009. Harvest Ball Society funding will assist with the purchase of new clothing for distribution to children, which consists of 2 new pairs of pants, 2 new shirts, a new pair of shoes, winter coat, underwear, and socks. Concerned Care, Inc.
Concerned Care, Inc. assists 115 adults with developmental disabilities live in their own apartments and provides recreational and service activities for over 500 youth and adults in year round therapeutic recreation programs. Harvest Ball Society funding will assist with meeting the medical needs of developmentally disabled people in Clay County, including dental care, adaptive equipment and durable medical supplies not covered by Medicaid. The Family Conservancy
The Family Conservancy assists high-risk children and helps families face parenting challenges. Harvest Ball Society funding will aid early learning programs in the Northland by offering early solutions mental health consultation and accreditation facilitation through professional development opportunities for programs working to achieve national accreditation. In 2009, 4,000 Northland residents received services and 566 Early Learning Teachers were served. (View)

Harvesters - The Community Food Network
Harvesters-The Community Food Network distributes food for emergency assistance to local food pantries. Funding from Harvest Ball Society during 2010 will be utilized to assist with providing food for low-income children through the Harvesters Childhood Hunger Initiative with the goal of preparing children better for learning. In 2009, Harvesters served 135,000 meals and provided 2.3 million pounds of food and household items to Northland families. (View)

Healthy Families Counseling and Support
Healthy Families Counseling and Support provides home and community-based parenting support and mental health services during critical life stages to families in the Northland. Harvest Ball Society funding will support the healthy Families Tender Beginnings early home visitation program which provides parenting guidance and support to 125 new and expecting at-risk parents. The organization served 700 families in the Northland and 1,470 students with school based counseling and resources in the Lawson, Missouri school district. (View)

Hillcrest Transitional Housing
Hillcrest Transitional Housing provides transitional housing and counseling services to Northland homeless families. The goal of the program is to break the cycle of homelessness by assisting clients gain employment and permanent housing. Harvest Ball Society funding will assist with the overall mission of the organization. Ninety families from the Northland were served in 2009. (View)

HOPE.wrx
HOPE.wrx (formerly Food for Families) requested funding to provide support for the Family Pack Program which supplies meals to low-income families of children attending school Harvest Ball Society will assist the organization in providing food and rolling back packs for children in seven North Kansas City School District schools and one Liberty School District school. In 2009, 375 children were served.unding provides for health education and financial support for influenza vaccines for at-risk children in schools, churches and day care centers. Northland service 1,500 in Clay and Platte counties in 2008. (View)

Ian’s Rainbow Flu Program
Ian’s Rainbow Flu Program educates the community about serious and life-threatening complications from influenza and provides funding for no cost influenza immunizations in Northland schools, churches and day care centers. Funding from the Harvest Ball Society will assist in developing educational materials and distribution of vaccinations. More than 1,000 free vaccines were provided in the Northland in 2009. (View)

Immacolata Manor
Immacolata Manor serves women with developmental disabilities in a residential setting as well as respite care for caretakers of developmentally disability adults through a day care program. Harvest Ball Society funding will assist with healthcare, nutrition, and transportation needs to provide such services. (View)

Kansas City Medicine Cabinet
Kansas City Medicine Cabinet is a program of the Baptist-Trinity Lutheran Legacy Foundation which provides direct client support in the Northland for uninsured/underinsured patients. The organization responds to emergency medical needs of low-income patients to meet medical care, dental care and equipment needed for appropriate care. Harvest Ball Society funding will assist with providing direct care to patients served. (View)

Liberty Meals on Wheels
Liberty Meals on Wheels program brings nutritional support to shut-in individuals. In 2009, 13,500 meals were served to 114 individuals. Funding from Harvest Ball Society will provide support to supplement costs so that clients unable to pay the $2.50 meal cost can continue to receive nutritional meals while remaining in their homes. In 2009, 3,200 volunteer hours were donated by 300 volunteer drivers who paid for all of their own transportation costs to deliver meals to the recipients.

Love, Inc. of Clay County
Love, Inc. of Clay County is an emergency assistance program providing food, vouchers, hygiene kits, gas vouchers, rent, work clothing, diapers and baby products to low income families in Clay County. In 2009, 675 families were served and funding from Harvest Ball Society will assist the organization to increase services provided. (View)

Miles of Smiles, Inc.
Miles of Smiles, Inc. provides dental care for children in 23 community based settings. Two cargo vans equipped with dental equipment travel to schools and other agencies to provide dental care to 2,397 children in 2009. Harvest Ball Society funding will assist with the cost to provide such services in 2010. (View)

NorthCare Hospice/ Palliative Care
Northcare Hospice and Palliative Care is dedicated to providing a holistic approach and education to pain symptom management for terminally ill patients together with emotional support for families. Hospice House offers a homelike environment for 16 hospice patients needing help with pain management. Harvest Ball Society funding supports charity care provided by the organization. (View)

Northland Assistance Center
Northland Assistance Center serves residents in Clay and Platte Counties with emergency assistance for household expenses: food, rent, and utilities. Funding provided by Harvest Ball Society will help support the provision of basic household needs. In 2009, 3,493 individuals were provided with emergency assistance. (View)

Northland Christmas Store
Northland Christmas Store provided new children’s toys, gifts and food to 3,161 individuals in Clay County during the holidays 2009. It is an all volunteer organization governed by 40 regular members and 400 additional volunteers during the holidays. Harvest Ball Society funding will be utilized to purchase toys for children. Northland Early Education Center
Northland Early Education Center serves children who have special needs and who are typically developing in Clay, Platte and Clinton counties with Harvest Ball Society funding supporting early therapeutic intervention services. Programs provided include both classroom and therapy sessions. One hundred children received educational services in 2009 with 41% being children with developmental disabilities. In home therapy was provided to 52 special needs children and their families. All students are taught a compassion for diversity and value for the uniqueness of the individual. (View)

Northland Health Care Access
Northland Health Care Access provides primary and specialty health care for uninsured and under-insured Northland families. Harvest Ball Society funds are directed to primary and secondary medical care. During 2009, there were 7,960 visits that were defined as the “working poor” who are uninsured and not eligible for government programs. (View)

Northland Meals on Wheels, Inc.
Northland Meals on Wheels, Inc. volunteers transport and serve elderly and handicapped persons who are home-bound in southern Clay County a hot nutritious meal in their own homes each day. Funds from Harvest Ball Society assist with payment of the $3.25 cost per meal for persons who are not financially able to pay for the meal. Over 145 volunteer donated 8,025 hours and all transportation costs to deliver 37,184 meals to 307 individuals in 2009.

The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army serves the Northland through emergency assistance for families in crisis and programs for children. Harvest Ball Society funding is directed to The Salvation Army Northland to provide scholarships in Clay and Platte counties for Summer Day Camp field trips, transportation and meals for economically disadvantaged Northland children. Funding is directed to The Salvation Army Excelsior Springs in support of the Christmas Toy Shop and food baskets for low-income families. (View)

Shepherd’s Center of the Northland
Shepherd’s Center of the Northland offers a host of programs and services specifically designed to address the needs of older adults. The organization is comprised of senior volunteers helping other seniors remain independent and productive. Funds provided by Harvest Ball Society will help with the Learning & Laughter Program expenses which provides a day program for any adult who would enjoy being with peers learning and laughing. Southern Platte County Emergency Assistance Center
Southern Platte County Emergency Assistance Center supplies food and necessary items for emergency assistance to Platte County residents. Harvest Ball Society funding will assist to this all-volunteer organization supply and deliver food, household supplies and personal care items for families in crisis and senior citizens. The organization served 4,784 individuals in 2009.

Synergy Services, Inc.
Synergy Services, Inc. provides a 24-hour crisis line, food, shelter, safety, counseling and case management for battered women, troubled teens, and abused and neglected children. Harvest Ball Society funds are directed toward the SafeHaven Domestic Violence Shelter for families in crisis. More than 300 women and 225 children found refuge at SafeHaven in 2009. (View)

Triality, Inc.
Triality, Inc. is an agency that provides day habilitation services for Clay and Platte County residents with mental and physical disabilities, and therapies, education and child care for medically fragile and/or developmentally delayed children. Funding from Harvest Ball Society will be utilized to assist with expenses associated with an early intervention center and program called Triality Tots. The program serves children birth to kindergarten that are medically fragile and/or have other special needs, providing infant stimulation and a developmental preschool. (View)

Tri-County Mental Health Services, Inc.
Tri-County Mental Health Services, Inc. provides behavioral health services for Northland residents in Clay, Platte and Ray counties. Funding from Harvest Ball Society will be utilized to provide outreach to heighten awareness of depression in older adults as a treatable illness and to provide active care coordination through case management services for such individuals. United Services Community Action Agency (Platte County)
United Services Community Action Agency of Platte County is receiving Harvest Ball Society funding to assist with providing toys and gifts during the holidays to needy families in Platte County. In 2009, the organization provided 1580 children with Christmas gifts and provided 560 families with food. (View)

Women’s Employment Network
Women’s Employment Network provides employment readiness and career transition training for women ages 18-65 to assist in building sustainable employment and economic stability. Funding from Harvest Ball Society will provide clothing for interviews, resume update assistance, rent assistance, food, child care and transportation in support of the goals of the organization. YMCA of Greater K.C.
YMCA of Greater Kansas City serves the Clay Platte YMCA, Platte County Community Center North and Platte County Community Center South. Programs supported by Harvest Ball Society include special transportation, financial assistance and other program support for children and teens with physical and/or mental disabilities to enable participation in YMCA Challenger and adaptive programs in the Northland. In 2009, 146 special needs children were served by the YMCA in the Northland. (View)
